  • Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)

  • EMDR Trained

Populations: Children, Adolescents, Teens, Adults

Seeking therapy is not always an easy decision.

You may know that you need support but feel uncertain about opening up, where to begin, or whether your experiences are significant enough to discuss. You may also have a clear goal in mind but need a supportive place to work toward it.

My goal is to provide a space where you feel safe, heard, and in control. Together, we can explore what is affecting you, identify goals that are meaningful to you, and build practical strategies for moving forward.

I provide individual therapy for teens and adults through Calm Mind Counseling Center’s Willowbrook office and through telehealth.

Meet Dominque

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Roosevelt University in Chicago.

I have experience helping teens and adults navigate anxiety, depression, grief, cognitive and developmental concerns, difficult transitions, relationship challenges, and the effects of trauma.

I understand that every person enters therapy with a different story, set of experiences, and reason for seeking support. No concern needs to meet a particular level of severity before it deserves attention. Your experiences are valid, and therapy can provide a place to talk about them honestly and without judgment.

Our work will focus on what matters to you. We will identify your goals together and use approaches suited to your needs, strengths, circumstances, and preferred pace.

Who I Work With

I work with teens and adults experiencing concerns such as:

  • Anxiety and persistent worry

  • Depression and mood-related concerns

  • Grief and loss

  • Stress and difficulty coping

  • Trauma and post-traumatic stress

  • Life transitions

  • Family conflict

  • Peer and relationship concerns

  • Self-esteem

  • Behavioral concerns

  • School-related difficulties

  • Sleep concerns

  • Cognitive or developmental disabilities

  • LGBTQIA+ concerns

  • Women’s issues

These concerns often overlap. Anxiety may make school, work, or relationships more difficult. Grief may affect mood, sleep, motivation, or concentration. A major change may bring uncertainty or make existing concerns feel more difficult to manage.

Therapy begins by understanding how your experiences are affecting your life rather than assuming that one approach will work for everyone.

What Therapy With Me Is Like

My intention is to create a comfortable environment where you can express yourself openly and participate actively in the direction of therapy.

I view therapy as a collaborative process. We will work together to determine what you would like to change, what may be standing in your way, and which strategies may be helpful as you move toward your goals.

You are the expert on your own experiences. My role is to listen, help you examine patterns, introduce new perspectives or skills, and support you as you decide what growth and progress mean for you.

Our sessions may include exploring thoughts, emotions, relationships, behaviors, coping strategies, and experiences from the past. We may also focus on practical ways to respond to present-day challenges.

Most importantly, I want therapy to be a place where your story can be told and taken seriously.

My Approach to Therapy

My approach is collaborative, client-centered, and adapted to the needs of each person.

Depending on your goals and concerns, I may incorporate:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

  • Person-Centered Therapy

  • Mindfulness-based techniques

  • Motivational Interviewing

  • Strength-based approaches

  • Trauma-focused therapy

Cognitive and behavioral approaches can help us examine relationships between thoughts, emotions, and actions while developing practical ways to respond differently.

Person-centered therapy keeps your experiences, goals, and choices at the center of the process. Mindfulness and coping techniques may also be used to help you notice emotional responses, remain present, and approach difficult situations with greater awareness.

I am also trained in EMDR and may incorporate it when it is appropriate for your concerns, history, goals, and readiness.

The purpose is not to fit you into one therapeutic model. It is to draw from approaches that can best support the work you want to do.

Supporting Teens

Adolescence can bring significant changes involving identity, relationships, family expectations, school, independence, and emotional well-being.

Teens may be working through anxiety, depression, grief, peer relationships, self-esteem, behavioral concerns, school challenges, or experiences they find difficult to discuss with the people around them.

My goal is to provide teens with a space where they can express themselves, feel heard, and participate in setting their own therapeutic goals.

Therapy can offer an opportunity to better understand emotions, recognize patterns, develop coping skills, and work through concerns in a supportive environment.

Support for Anxiety, Depression, and Grief

Anxiety, depression, and grief are among the concerns I most frequently help clients navigate.

These experiences can affect many parts of life, including motivation, concentration, sleep, relationships, school, work, and the ability to feel connected to yourself or others.

Our work may involve discussing what you are experiencing, identifying factors contributing to your distress, recognizing patterns, and developing strategies that reflect your individual needs and circumstances.

Trauma-Informed Therapy and EMDR

I am trained in EMDR and use trauma-focused approaches as part of my broader clinical work.

Trauma can affect thoughts, emotions, behavior, relationships, and a person’s sense of safety or control.

When appropriate, therapy may include exploring how past experiences continue to influence concerns in the present.

Any decision to incorporate EMDR or other trauma-focused work will depend on your needs, history, treatment goals, and readiness.
