Populations: Adults
You may be struggling with anxiety or depression, working through a difficult transition, or trying to understand patterns in your relationships, identity, or sense of self.

At times, it can be difficult to know where to begin. You may feel overwhelmed by what you are experiencing, uncertain about what needs to change, or hesitant to share parts of your story with someone new.

I believe it is important to develop a meaningful therapeutic relationship rooted in understanding and respect for what makes you unique. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where we can explore your experiences, identify your strengths, and work toward changes that are meaningful to you.

I provide individual therapy for adults through Calm Mind Counseling Center in Forest Park, Willowbrook, and online throughout Illinois.
Meet Meeae
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and EMDR-trained therapist.

I have a passion for helping others, and being a therapist allows me to connect with people on a deeper level while offering guidance and support through life’s challenges.

My experience includes working with adolescents and adults in private practice, as well as supporting youth and adolescents as a crisis counselor. Before becoming a therapist, I worked as an educator for many years and valued the opportunity to help young people learn, grow, and navigate challenges.

I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from National Louis University. I also hold prior undergraduate and graduate degrees from DePaul University.
Who I Work With
I work with adults.

People may come to therapy seeking support for concerns involving:
-
Anxiety
-
Depression
-
Relationship difficulties
-
Trauma and post-traumatic stress
-
Grief and loss
-
Life transitions
-
Family conflict
-
Identity and self-concept
-
Self-esteem
-
Parenting concerns
-
Divorce
-
Mood-related concerns
-
Stress and emotional overwhelm
-
Cultural or racial identity
-
Women’s and men’s issues
These concerns often intersect. A major transition may affect your identity or relationships. Grief may contribute to depression or anxiety. Cultural experiences, family expectations, and earlier relationships may influence how you understand yourself and the choices available to you.

Our work will begin with your individual experience rather than an assumption that one explanation or treatment approach fits everyone.
What Therapy With Me Is Like
I approach therapy as a collaborative process.

You bring your own experiences, values, strengths, and understanding of your life. My role is to help you explore what you are thinking and feeling, recognize patterns, consider new perspectives, and identify steps that can support the changes you want to make.

I believe you have the power to create change in your life. Therapy does not mean that someone else takes control of that process or decides what your life should look like. Instead, we work together to identify your goals and determine which approaches may be most useful to you.

My intention is to create an environment where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, relationships, and experiences without judgment. We can also recognize the strengths that have helped you navigate challenges and consider how those strengths can support your continued growth.

Whether you are addressing past trauma, adjusting to a new stage of life, or seeking greater personal understanding, I will work with you to support a more fulfilling and empowered life.
My Approach to Therapy
My approach is person-centered, collaborative, culturally inclusive, and informed by evidence-based practices.

Depending on your concerns and goals, I may incorporate:
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
-
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
-
Motivational Interviewing
-
Mindfulness techniques
-
Existential therapy
-
Attachment-based therapy
-
Ego State Therapy
-
Internal Family Systems and parts work
-
Interpersonal therapy
-
Strength-based therapy
-
Trauma-informed approaches
I often use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy within a trauma-informed framework.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can help us explore relationships among thoughts, emotions, and actions. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy can help clarify personal values and support choices that are more closely aligned with those values.

Mindfulness may help you observe thoughts and emotional responses with greater awareness, while motivational interviewing can support exploration when you feel uncertain or conflicted about change.

The methods we use will be shaped around your needs. Your strengths, identity, values, and lived experiences remain foundational to the therapeutic process.
Culturally Inclusive and Identity-Affirming Therapy
Culture, identity, family, relationships, and community can all influence how we experience life.

These factors may shape the expectations placed on you, how comfortable it feels to express your needs, the way you understand yourself, and how others respond to you.

I have experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and approach therapy from a culturally inclusive foundation. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and committed to creating space for clients to discuss the identities, relationships, values, and experiences that matter to them.

Therapy should not require you to separate meaningful parts of yourself from the concerns that brought you to treatment. We can explore those experiences together and consider how they relate to your emotional well-being, relationships, and goals.
Anxiety, Depression, and Relationship Concerns
Anxiety, depression, and relationship concerns are among my primary areas of clinical focus.

These experiences can affect daily routines, motivation, self-confidence, communication, decision-making, and your ability to feel connected to yourself or others.

Our work may include identifying patterns, exploring the experiences contributing to your current concerns, clarifying your values, and developing strategies that fit your circumstances.
Narrative Therapy
Narrative techniques can help you explore the stories and beliefs that influence how you understand yourself.

You may have come to define yourself through a difficult experience, relationship, mistake, or expectation. Therapy can provide an opportunity to examine those narratives and consider perspectives that better reflect the full complexity of who you are.

The approaches we use will depend on your needs, goals, and preferred way of working.
Trauma-Informed Therapy and EMDR
I am trained in EMDR and incorporate trauma-informed principles into my work.

Past experiences may continue to influence how you respond to stress, view yourself, relate to others, or feel within your body. When appropriate, therapy may involve exploring those connections and considering how earlier experiences continue to affect your life today.

EMDR may be incorporated based on your history, goals, preparation, and readiness. It is one option within a broader and individualized therapeutic approach rather than an automatic treatment plan.

The decision to use EMDR will be made collaboratively and with attention to what feels appropriate for you.
